Prices and settlement

A Battle’s reference prices can differ from the prices you can actually trade at.

Stock tokens	On trading days, Alpaca quotes, including the pre-market, after-hours and overnight sessions. From 20:00 Friday to 20:00 Sunday New York time, and on market holidays, the pool price on Robinhood Chain.
Crypto assets on Robinhood Chain	The pool’s average price over the last 60 seconds (5 minutes for some pools).
Assets on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana	The pool’s average price over the last 5 minutes.

A price reporter that Tropic operates signs the reference prices. The contracts verify the signature and calculate Battle results, but they do not check the underlying market data themselves. A submitted price cannot be overwritten, and a price must be onchain for 5 minutes before settlement can use it, so results come out a few minutes after a round ends.

Even when settlement is late, returns use the reference prices at each entry’s original start and at the round’s scheduled end. Price moves after the scheduled end do not count toward the round and do not change the schedule of later rounds. If a round still cannot settle 6 hours after it ends, anyone can void it. A voided round returns every entry’s Battle capital and round fee, and the entries do not renew.
